Bang Update
So right now I have about 20k written (with another rough 3k of extra scenes that I've written pieces of, but haven't gotten to in the linear progression of the fic yet). I've adopted a sort of "No Looking Back" policy, which means I'm trying to just pound it all out and not reading back what I wrote to pick, edit, trim, etc.
I fear my main chick has become very Sue, and I'm hoping that by the time I reach the end of this fic, I'll have remedied that (or least will be able to go back over it with my lovely beta and fix it then). Even at 20k, though, I feel like I'm not even halfway through what I want/need to happen, which seems terrifying and makes me think I'm putting waaay too much in - too much irrelevant stuff, scenes, etc.
I also, at this point, have taken on art for four fics, and am beta-ing another. Which, last year, I did art for just two, and beta-ed. I'm not at all worried about all that, though, as I've done a once over of the fic I offered to beta and already sent it back (last year I was like power beta-ing days before the deadline). And as for the art, I've completely done three pieces for two of the fics (two scenes and a title piece), and for the other two fics, I'm just waiting on titles from the authors and those will also be done (I even did a hilariously bad sketch, like I did last year, for one of the fics). So in that respect, I'm not stressed at all. Just still stressing majorly about my own fic. Ugh.
Plus the fact that now it's August, and I know the deadline is in August (the 26th!) and I was flailing like a month ago, so now I'm really flailing!
In other news, I've blasted through both seasons of Downton Abbey (OHMYGOSH SO GOOD ASDLKJA;KLAHLSKJHFA;K) and am working my way through Burn Notice (am just starting season 3 - love it so much!). Also, I find summer a weird time for TV, because nothing is on (except So You Think You Can Dance! Woo!!), and I use that time to start/finish/catch up on all kinds of other shows, and sort of forget about everything else. The other day when I was on tumblr, I was seeing some gifs for Fringe, picspams for How I Met Your Mother, and then looked up a song that was featured on the Revenge finale and it was just like OH YA THESE ARE ALL COMING BACK! Anyways, it's weird feeling, is what I'm saying, since I'm so TV obsessed, to sort of "forget" about "regular" TV these past few months, and then remember they're coming back on in the fall. In the meantime, I still need to get my hands on season 2 of Cougar Town (because I fell madly in love with season 1 and neeeed it now. NEED).
Alright, alright, enough procrastinating. Off to attempt to curb my Sue.
