There's a bit of variety, but I do tend to stick to fandoms I know when issuing challenges simply so that I can read it (if it's a fandom I'm not at all familiar with, I can't exactly "judge" it, you know?). Anyways, it's totally fine to use these challenges to jump start your writing in any fandom, even if the challenge is issued for say Lost, and you use it write a King Arthur story or something.
General: Road Trip Challenge
CHALLENGE:
The initial idea is very easy and what you do with it is up to you. Take 2-4 characters, stick them in a vehicle, and write the road trip that ensues. Whether it's a two-hour ride or a two-day drive! Will they fight or want to kill each other? Will this trip bring them closer together or push them apart? Is there pranks? Pitstops? Why are they going on a road trip in the first place?
Go nuts.
RULES:
1. Two or more characters go on a road trip, for a certain length of time.
2. AUs allowed, OCs are fine, but not too many (as in there should be at least one if not more canon characters present).
3. When posted, be sure to include "Road Trip Challenge" or something to that effect in your A/N or summary.
ENTRY:
Post a link in the comments with title of the fic, author, summary, rating below.

Harry Potter: 48 Hours Challenge
I've seen it done before and even wrote one myself, but it was such a fun one I thought I'd post it for others to take a crack at (since I can't find the original challenge post anywhere).
CHALLENGE:
Two characters, for some reason, get stuck in the Divination Room/the Astronomy Tower/the Common Room (of whichever House)/a classroom together. Only one of them has a wand! They are stuck there for 48 hours, until someone unexpected comes to find them.
You have a very wide range of characters to play with - go from the easy (Harry and perhaps Hermione or Ron) to the difficult and certainly unexpected (like Blaise and McGonagall or something). How do they react to this situation? How did they end up there together and what do they try in order to get out? Why can't they get out? Who is this "unexpected person" who finds them?
Remember: this does not have to turn into a romance! But it can, of course, if that's what happens. Any genre allowed (including tragedy, horror, etc).
Take it away, maestro!
RULES:
1. Two characters, stuck in either the Diviniation room, a classroom, the Astronomy Tower or one of the Houses' Common Rooms, for 48 hours.
2. AUs strongly discouraged, OCs not allowed for this one.
3. Someone unexpected to find them.
4. Only one person has a wand.
6. When posted, be sure to include "48 Hour Challenge" or something to that effect in your A/N or summary.
ENTRY:
Post a link in the comments with title of the fic, author, summary, rating, and the two characters who get stuck.

Big Bang Theory: Pac Man Challenge
CHALLENGE:
This is an easy one, folks. Write a Big Bang Theory fic, centered around Pac Man. Whether they are playing it, talking about it, someone's writing an essay, there's a debate, etc - it's completely up to you. Ships or no, all characters present or no - this one is very open, with basically the only requirement being that Pac Man most somehow be the focus and/or main theme of the fic.
RULES:
1. Pac Man is the focus and/or main theme somehow.
2. AUs, OCs and crossovers allowed.
3. Oneshots preferred, multi-chapter accepted (no more than 30 chapters, though, please).
4. When posted, be sure to include "Pac Man Challenge" or something to that effect in your A/N or summary.

Post a link in the comments with title of the fic, author, summary, and rating.

Harry Potter: Color Challenge
CHALLENGE:
Write a fic based on what color represents a certain character. Use the color as a theme or prompt, and go from there! This is a character study of sorts, so go deep and have fun.
RULES:
1. One character for one color. Feel free to do as many of these as you want, but no repeating characters or colors (if you use Purple for Harry, you can't use it for Ron too. And if you've already done Harry, you can't write another color fic for him even if you use a different color.)
2. AUs, OCs, and crossovers not allowed for this one.
3. Length should be minimum about 500-700 words, and the maximum is pretty well as long as you want within reason. May be included as part of a series/collection of oneshots. If you have the plot bunny to create a multi-chaptered fic off of this, go for it, but oneshots encouraged for this challenge.
4. When posted, be sure to include "Color Challenge" or something to that effect in your A/N or summary.
ENTRY:
Post a link in the comments with title of the fic, author, summary, rating below, plus the color and character you chose (unless because of the way your fic is, you'd rather not say).
----------
Be sure if you choose one to specify which you wrote for when you post a link in the comments. Also, there is no deadline on these just so you do them at any time. Lastly, it doesn't matter where you post (whether on your LJ or FF.net or somewhere else) as long as you post a link when it's up!
Have fun!!
