So, taking a break from packing (long story) to do a post up, seeing as how I have now finished all 11 seasons of Cheers! I started it, what, how many years ago? Stopped, started again, stopped for ages, started again... Anyways, this summer, I picked it back up and polished off seasons 9-11 (possibly season 8 as well... I can't remember now, haha).

20 min shows are always super easy to binge, but also, this show is a great brain cleanser if I watched something too intense close to bed and it was a great background show while working on wedding stuff for my friend this summer. Also great background for packing - I pretty much did season 11 entirely in the past week during packing. XD

As in previous Cheers related entries, I just have some random thoughts and ramblings. Warning: this got long.

where everybody knows your name )

So, top of the list of Things I Probably Shouldn't Be Doing Because I Have Other Stuff To Be Doing is a whole list of Bangs I've signed myself up for. XD

give in and give out )
I've been meaning to do this post forever, but keep not having time (or forgetting b/c I'm too forgetful for my own good). FINALLY both had some time AND remembered, so here goes!

Back when the 50th Anniversary Special for Doctor Who was coming out, I had a freak out because I was so excited for it (as most Whovians did). Then I found out they were airing the special at a theatre near me and I REALLY freaked out with excitement. Unfortunately none of my real-life friends were Whovians, and I didn't particularly want to go alone... so I asked my sister if she would go with me. She shrugged and was like sure, so I bought us two tickets. Then I said it'd probably be a good idea if she watched some of the show before we went and saw the 50th special, so she at least knew kinda what she was getting into. She said sure.

And thus I embarked on a journey to crash course my sister through Doctor Who is like... less than a month.

This post is to tell you what we crash-coursed through, in the hope that it might help fellow Whovians convert others!! This post is definitely my opinion and by no means a hard-fast guide, because everyone is going to have their own thoughts and opinions on which episodes are most important and why. (Also contained in this post will be spoilers, so non-Whovians, you should probably NOT read on...)

Hobey ho, let's go.i am a mad man with a box )
This post will contain show spoilers and book spoilers. I need to flail. If you have not read book 3 (A Storm of Swords) and/or have not seen all of season 3, or you do care about being spoiled, DO NOT CLICK INTO THIS POST.

YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. (That being said, I will separate show and book spoilers, so if you HAVE seen the show, but NOT read the books, you can still read some of the post!)
you win or you lose )
Another year, another Het Bang sign up. Before I get going on that, a few things: this entry will contain pointless Het Bang ramblings. I was going to spew about some Game of Thrones stuff, but I have a feeling that's going to get long, or in any event, should be a separate entry, so I will do that sometime.
all of your wallowing is unbecoming )

Doctor Who!

I AM NOW A WHOVIAN.

Ok, so, let me just say that I've had some horrible real life stuff happening lately, and have been absent. I will eventually get around to posting about it, but the pre-Christmas rush of life is starting now, and, anyways. Basically I was going to ramble about Doctor Who on my tumblr and it started to get really long, so I figured it was a better idea to stick it here and just post lightly on my tumblr instead.

the foreshadowing is killing me )
OK. I WAS FREAKING OUT BEFORE. NOW I'M REALLY, REALLY, REALLY FREAKING THE HECK OUT.

what am i doing seriously )

What I should be doing: a report for work, dishes, working on my Bang for hetbigbang...

What I'm doing instead: Procrastinating, what else?
and ranting about sam and diane so, you know, you're warned? )

Aaages ago, my sister and I used to watch Quantum Leap reruns, and my mom would talk about how good the show was when it started. In her words, "it got really political and really yukky towards the end". I've always enjoyed it, and wanted to see more/all of it, so several years back when I saw some of the seasons for cheap on DVD, I snagged 'em. The past year or so, I've been working my way through the seasons - there's 5 in total. I own 1-4, and had yet to buy 5. And frankly, at this point, I'm pretty sure I will never will bother to buy it.

oh boy )
You know those movies that you used to watch obsessively as a kid, and then for one reason or another haven't watched in forever? (grew out of it, became a teen and decided you had to grow out of it, simply became obsessed with something else and subsequently forgot it existed and probably have dismissed it as "aw I loved that movie as a kid", etc) And by forever, I'm talking like literally 10-15 years?

see what i'm tryin to say is )

Dry Spell?

Right now I feel like I am going through a weird dry spell in terms of creating things. I haven't made very much art over the past few months (just a handful compared to what I'm usually churning out), I've written almost nothing (fics or otherwise), and only just in the last week or two came up with a vid (ignored the dozen and a half started/unfinished projects in various states of completion to whip out a short George/Izzie vid in like 3 days). It's kind of weird, because usually my "muse" just shifts to one medium or another for while, or divides her time between all of them.

this looks familiar... vaguely familiar... )

Life On Mars

Ok, so I caved and got Netflix. They sent my parents (who already have it) a free trial, so they gave it to me, and well, I couldn't let it go to waste. It's not like I have enough other things to watch and read as it is, now I have all the choices of Netflix (Canada, that is, which I'm told has a significantly lesser selection than the US version, but there's still a crap load of stuff on there).

oh man wonder if he'll ever know... is there life on mars... )
Part of this is to brag a little, but mostly this post is because it's 1:30 in the morning and I just got back from having such a wonderful fun night with my aunt (junk food and a Christmas chick flick double feature - The Holiday and Love Actually) that now I am wide awake and feel like posting.
baby boom santa, thank you for mtveeeee... )

Cheers

So I've been watching Cheers, as I posted briefly about a while back. I got sidetracked and stopped watching for a while (Game of Thrones, new fall TV - like everything. I can post about it another time) and now that nearly everything that I'm watching is getting into that time of year when it's re-runs every other week (or every two *grumblegrumble*), I'm getting back into Cheers. I've been borrowing the seasons from my Dad - he owns 1-3, and I'm getting him 4 & 5 for Christmas. I'm on the second disc of season 3 and wanted to post a handful of thoughts.

where everybody knows your name )

So as you may or may not know, back in May, I signed up for this fanfic "Big Bang", where you basically have to write a big story in a (relatively) short amount of time (kind of like NaNoWriMo or whatever it's called, which I have never attempted because I am the lethal combination of procrastinator and perfectionist when it comes to writing). For this one, it has to be centered on a het pairing (therefore the genre should be mostly romance), must have 25 000 words or more, and must be done by September 25th.

why yes I AM ridiculous )

Shippage

I've seen many other LJers do this sort of thing, and I figured I probably should too. I have SO. MANY. Ships. So don't be too overwhelmed.

(Read: I am on a scheduled "break" from my self-imposed Bang writing regime today, and I'm making the most of it by doing... this...)

ship shippy shipness is shiptastic )

I have recently started watching Cheers. My dad claims it is the funniest show ever, and constantly mocks me for saying I think How I Met Your Mother is the funniest show. I literally laugh a lot in pretty well every episode, and I have yet to get tired of watching reruns - when nothing is on, it's my go-to (or Friends if there's no HIMYM).

here there be ramblings )

As if I needed another reason to show everyone I way to obsessed with Lost. I have been so into it for years now (I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself when it finally ends forever) and my Lost fever has only reached new heights during this final season. And as if you need proof, I shall give you some anyway.

obessed, i tell you! )
