Story of the Timebomb Story (2)

Anyways, so around that time in 2015, I kind of had a “Enough is Enough” moment. This story had been plaguing my brain for years now, and it showed no signs of leaving me alone. I constantly, constantly circled back to it, poked at it, fiddled. I whined to friends, I got copious encouragement. I was fed up with each passing movie making my idea less and less plausible and decided that I had to do it. I just had to find a way, now, and get it out of my system.

I had to figure out a way to get it out, and stop idly adding to it every few months with no clear idea of anything. So I dragged all my notes and plot ideas and nonsense over the years into one big folder, called “Timebomb 2015”. I sorted each Avenger into folders and documents with their separate stories. I made myself art to motivate and inspire (seen at the beginning of each fic, now).( the rambling rambles continue )

(This is basically an unnecessary novel about the fic-novel I've been working forever and ever, so proceed at your own risk. XD)

The really short version: it's been years in the making (like...years years) but I finally have finished writing my epic timebomb Avengers story, and it's finally getting posted. I've just got edits coming for the last half, and I'm done. My official WIP Big Bang posting date is Sept 17 (ie. the day the whole thing has to be up in it's glory). I am alkjshfl;kjasd.

The really, really, unnecessarily long version for anybody who has time on their hands and cares to read... XD

Marvel Bang: Art for "in extremis" by whitchry9

A/n: Finally getting to posting the few art pieces I did this summer, before I got *crushed and buried* by school (I might post about that last - it's not a short story, lol). First up, the piece I did for marvel_bang.

This fic is a fab story of Tony through the years, dealing with a super-crap immune system. I absolutely loved the team dynamics here, especially between Tony and Bruce, and all the hurt/comfort. :D

Fic title: in extremis
Fic summary: Definition: in extreme circumstances; especially: at the point of death. Tony survives Afghanistan, but he doesn’t expect the thing in his chest to be what nearly kills him. Over and over and over. But it turns out that having an arc reactor in your chest is really hazardous to your health. If the pneumonia doesn't kill him, the flu sure might.

WIP Big Bang: Art for "illa vincit, que si vincit" by Aenaria

A/n: THE FIFTH AND FINAL ART FOR [community profile] wipbigbang !! WOOO!! I loved the concept of this one immediately, and was very curious how it could possibly work with Steve as the Beast. From the snippets I saw, Aenaria does a really excellent job of giving the story a twist and making it wonderfully original - I can't wait to read the full thing. :D

I'll admit I was a bit daunted at first, trying to figure out how to do art for the lovely snippets I got, but I had to try and create something that fit the intrigue and magic of the story. The imagery of the quiet scene where Sam (the falcon!) talks to the beast about magic breaking down stuck with me so I did my best to somehow art it. :)

Fic Title: illa vincit, que si vincit
Fic Summary: Once upon a time, there was a witch in a castle who stole a frozen Captain for her collection.

Once upon a time, an intern got lost in the woods and offered to trade herself to the castle for her friend’s life and freedom.

Once upon a time in the castle, the intern and the Captain meet and, as the magic begins to decay and the relationship grows, they learn more about the true nature of the castle, what it means to be human, and what really makes a home.

An MCU take on Beauty and the Beast, inspired by Angela Carter, the B&B Broadway musical, and so many other tales swirled together.

WIP Big Bang: Art for "Up In The Air, Junior Birdman" by Thassalia

A/n: Here's art batch #3 for wipbigbang. I HAD to have this one when I saw that the Avengers go camping - I've actually always, always wanted to write one of those myself, but never gotten around to it. The idea was too excellent to let slip by. XD The snippets I got did not disappoint, and then the lovely Thassalia offered for me to read the fic ahead of publishing and I fell madly in love. Guys, the fic is brilliant and pitch perfect. GO READ IT. I'm not generally a Bruce/Natasha fan, unless they're written exceptionally well, but Thassalia does it - there's chemistry and amazing characterization and shows how they actually could work really nicely together (with plenty of delicious UST and angst, natch).

I absolutely had to try my hand at recreating them all sitting around the campfire singing songs, as it was my favorite snippet, then one of my fav scenes in the whole fic.

Thank you, Thassalia, for being a great Bang partner and writing such a brilliant fic. :D I'm so, so glad I got to do art for it! :D

A/n: And here's my third and final art for this year's marvel_bang! This one is all about Tony and Natasha, working through trust issues and chemistry and sticky situations over the years, starting in Iron Man 2 and branching out AU-ishly from there (it's alternatiely summarized as "Five times Tony Stark did not sleep with Natasha Romanoff, and one time he did). I jumped at the chance to do art for this week, since Tony/Nat has been a guilty pleasure fic of mine forever. They just have a lot of potential and chemistry and I'm always up for seeing fic that explores that. :D

This art is rated PG-13 for some attempted sexy manips.

Fic Title: The Only Truth That Sticks
Fic Summary: It took years for Natasha to understand Tony on a personal level, and in that time their relationship has ended up as many of Natasha’s do: they are colleagues who can work together professionally, but don’t even pretend to trust each other. She sets her sights on repairing their relationship, but with Tony Stark, nothing is ever going to be easy. (Or: Five times Tony Stark did not sleep with Natasha Romanoff, and one time he did.)

Marvel Bang: if we bridge this gap (Avengers; Gen)

IT'S FINALLY HERRREEEEEEE

So, I had this fic idea like... after The Avengers came out. And I started and stopped it for years after - loved the idea but couldn't wrestle it, so I shelved it. Loved it again, but shortly after starting it, it was too overwhelming, so it was shelved. Loved, too much research or probelms or couldn't sort it and untangle it, etc, shelved it. Over and over forever. Then finally, I committed myself to finishing it (anyone who knows me, I have this thing about finishing projects like this that I start, lol), I fought with it a bunch more - lots of brainstorming with pals, various beta help, lots of me whining and complaining and trying to decide if this whole thing was even worth it. And then the [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang came around and I thought "OKAY. ONCE AND FOR ALL."

That's the background story. XD Now, we're here, a day after my official posting day on the [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang, and guess what? IT'S. HERE. Or rather, Part 1 (of 3) is here, BUT STILL. I can't describe how good it feels to FINALLY be getting this story out in the world, omw.

Marvel Bang: Art for "10,000 Miles to Home" by paleogymnast

A/n: For my second art excursion in the [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang, I did art for the lovely [livejournal.com profile] paleogymnast (who awesomely arted for a whole bunch of people this Bang, as well as writing a fic!). The story is about Natasha and Laura on the run, protecting the Barton kids, in the wake of the Sokovia Accords and Clint getting stashed in The Raft. Luckily, Linda Cardinelli has been in a few recent things, so it was easier to find some decent pictures of her than I thought it was going to be. ;D

Fic Title: 10,000 Miles to Home
Fic Summary: The Sokovia Accords didn’t stop with the Avengers. The goal of the accords was to ensure the registration of every enhanced individual everywhere in the world, regardless of age, occupation, or country of origin, and using a very flexible definition of enhanced. So when Steve Rogers broke the Avengers out of the Raft, Secretary Ross and UN forces sought to strike back at their families… only it didn’t quite go as planned. This is the story of Laura Barton and Natasha Romanoff on the run with Lila, Cooper, and Nathaniel Barton, and moving towards reunification. Ross really should have known not to mess with Black Widow. He really should have known not to go after Laura Barton.

A/n: My first art for my first [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang! This fic is a lot of fun with copious mutual pining, asSteve and Darcy have to live together as a fake couple so Steve can keep Darcy safe from some very bad guys. I'm happy I got to do art for this, as Steve/Darcy has always been a cute ship I enjoy, and [livejournal.com profile] dizzy_redhead wrote them so great. :D I ended up combining three different Chris Evans-es to get shaved-head!Steve in boxers, because I just loved that image in the story so much, I had to try and art it. :D #redpretendsshecandomanips

Fic Summary: In the wake of a kidnapping, Darcy goes into hiding with Steve along to keep her safe, witness-protection style. But pretending to be a couple doesn't leave them much room to avoid their mutual attraction, which only grows stronger the more time they spend together.

I posted this on my tumblr and on AO3, and thought I should come share it here too. :) I took a long time carefully choosing songs - a lot of the time when I make a fandom playlist, it's just sort whatever else feels like that fandom/ship in that moment, but I wanted to create a set of songs that were exactly them, in tone and lyrics, so it took me forever. The result tho, is that I really, really like it. :D

I posted bits of lyrics that most represented them, or were my fav lyrics in the song, but seriously each song is very specifically THEM. Hope you enjoy!

IT'S OVER.

Holy cow, I don't know how I made it. And frankly, I'm still not happy with my fic - I still think it needs a lot of help - BUT the deadline has passed, Debut Day has passed, and my brain is an uncreative, wrung dry, pile of MUSH, plus I feel just over it, lol. So maybe once I've recovered, I'll take another pass at it.
